Century Pacific Group – RSPo Foundation, Inc., together with Century Pacific Group employee volunteers, celebrated Father’s Day by taking part in building homes for one of its feeding program partners, Ihome Greater Metro Manila (also known as Habitat for Humanity Philippines)at Rodriguez, Rizal.
Habitat for Humanity Philippines (HFHP) is a non-profit Christian ministry working to help build responsible and self-reliant communities by enabling Filipino families in need to acquire affordable, decent, and durable homes. HFHP,established in 1988, has inspired volunteers from different age groups and walks of life to be one in their vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Last June 11, 2011, sixteen (16) CPG employees with several Motorcross Riders, known as the Trail Pirates, enthusiastically geared themselves up to support HFHP’s vision and experience one day of hard work and labor. The female volunteers were tasked to paint the beams, while the male volunteers stretched & flexed their muscles to put concrete and lay blocks on the houses.
Though the work was hard and everyone was sweating, the volunteers still had fun and laughed together as they saw themselves soil up. The sense of volunteerism was strongly felt among the volunteers and they also realized how valuable their contribution was that day.
Truly what happened that day was not just about building homes but more of arming individuals with a sense of volunteerism that can transcend and influence thousand others to do their part to make a difference in the country. Let us continue our work and help bring realization to the hope of our less fortunate countrymen!
